During 477 there are a
few key concepts that have stuck out to me the most. The first is to take a
step in developing my role as a leader in managing all things resources in my
school community. Lisa Brady stressed that it would do a disservice to those I serve
to neglect that part of my job and that has idea has stuck with me (www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=3&v=d7ByNU07CCA). Secondly, to create greater access for my school community when it
comes to tools and all forms of literacy. During my look into world libraries
the lengths that people such as Freshta Karim (http://charmaghz.com/about/) or Libraries Without
Borders (https://www.librarieswithoutborders.org/rohingya-refugees-folktales-and-maps/) went to give access to
simple reading material and tech devices is humbling and inspiring. Helping my
teachers and students in their own journeys of becoming more digitally literate
will hopefully help move us all towards the ideal that Liz Zacho talks about,
that we should be digital creators not just digital consumers (www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKYO5ZAzelA).

For my vision project I
will be focusing on facilitating access to resources that will support the use
of the coding and robotics equipment that was given to our school by our
district. We have had the tools for 3 years now and many of them are still in
their boxes. Grappling with a new curriculum and new reporting systems has left
many of our teachers feeling overwhelmed. Diving into coding and robotics
systems that are entirely unknown to them is an extra stress. My hope is that
by pulling together different digital and print resources as well as a few
links and video clips of projects that have been completed already I can
increase their sense of access to these tools so they are less daunting.
I have used Padlet and
Symbaloo for other resource gathering projects such as this. Padlet is
excellent but would require purchasing a package of some sort to be able to
create something with a big enough scope and room to grow through
collaboration. I may decide to try a new platform such as Wix or Adobe Pages so
that there is the possibility of adding a blog feature, and so that the information
can be presented in a clear and attractive way.

I appreciate how you have taken key topics and ideas from our work and used them to help you find direction for this project. I feel that a curation of resources to support teachers with coding and robotics will be a valuable asset. You are right that it is easy to be overwhelmed with change. Your project will be a real support to those in your school, district and hopefully beyond.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Darcy: very helpful support. A very concise article. What are Patlet and Symbaloo do?
