Books with Something to Say
Flotsam by David Wiesner

I titled this stream of consciousness curation
Books with Something to Say. It’s somewhat tongue in cheek, as a few of
the books have no words at all and others are not in English. But it was very
much a collection that began with an interest in one book and lead to another
and another. I wasn’t sure if there was a big idea that tied all the books
together. But looking at them as a unique collection I realized they were books
that kind of made you think one thing was happening and it turned out to be
something else. There was a bit of mystery, a slow reveal, imagination, and
often a deeper purpose behind why they were written. They are books that can
have more than one meaning and can be read and enjoyed for more than one
reason. I put them into a sort of chronological order as well, beginning with
younger audience books and ending with older audience books. That is by no
means a rule though, (especially for the beginning books) everyone can enjoy a
good picture book.
